Advertising is clearly in the rebound messaging mode. Have you seen the “we can do it” spirit in all the ads? The “We are starting chapter one” from GM; “It’s on” from Southwest; even the “I’ll be there for you” theme from State Farm? They uplift and remind us of the strength of spirit we have as Americans – that “old” pull yourself up by your boot-straps attitude (such an out-dated metaphor).
These are signs of all of us trying to get the US revving up. We all know that consumer attitudes can drive business. It is fascinating how the winds change and we all move like a herd…. I hope it works!
