Having earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Southern California, Renée is a consumer psychologist and social psychologist who applies insightful psychological tools to develop powerful advertising and PR campaigns for blue chip clients. Fraser Communications’ campaigns have won numerous awards and been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, NPR and other media outlets. Fraser focuses on results for their clients – all campaigns are measured against solid metrics and their ROI.
Honored by Advertising Age as one of the “Ten Brightest Women in Advertising,” Renée was the recipient of the 2007 “Enterprising Women of the Year Award,” the 2007 “Legacy Award” by the National Association of Woman Business Owners, the 2004 Los Angeles Business Journal “Woman CEO of the Year” Award and the 2003 Los Angeles SBA “Women in Business Advocate of the Year” Award. Throughout a career that has included being Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning at Young and Rubicam, Y&R/Dentsu and President and General Manager of Bozell Inc./Pacific Region, Renée has established a reputation as a brand builder. She distinguishes herself as and leads a team of experts in qualitative and quantitative research, which results in thoughtful and effective campaigns for her clients.
Renée has also distinguished herself and her company by giving back to the community. She serves on the national board of Volunteers of America (a $980 million non-profit), the boards of United Way of Los Angeles, WISE and Healthy Aging and is Vice-Chair of the Harvard Kennedy School Women’s Leadership Board. Renée is also an adjunct professor at the Annenberg School of Communications for their Masters Degree Program at the University of Southern California.
Betsy is President of Berkhemer Clayton Inc., retained executive search firm celebrating 15 years in business, headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, specializing in senior level executive positions in corporate communications, marketing, finance and general management. University clients include USC, UC Irvine, Caltech and UCLA. Corporate clients include Hilton, DirecTV, Disney, Toyota, Edison; Non-profit clients include the American Lung Association of California, Kaiser Permanente, MALDEF, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and more.
Betsy is the current (2008-09) statewide California president of the National Association of Women Business Owners and past president of NAWBO Los Angeles (2000-01). In 2006, NAWBO-Los Angeles honored her for “Lifetime Achievement” and she is past chair of the NAWBO-LA Enterprise Institute Foundation.
Betsy met her business partner Fred Clayton when they both served on the board of March of Dimes Southern California. They launched Berkhemer Clayton with commitment to diversity and inclusion in every search. She is a long-time member of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Town Hall of Los Angeles, Organization of Women Executives, Hispanic Corporate Council, UCLA Alumni Association, Women Leaders of United Way of Greater Los Angeles and Women’s Foundation of CA. She also serves on the boards of the Los Angeles Chamber and Southern California Leadership Network (SCLN).
Before establishing Berkhemer Clayton, Betsy launched and built one of the largest public relations agencies in Los Angeles, which was acquired by Golin/Harris. Her former public relations clients included Nintendo, Toshiba, Southwest Airlines, Price Waterhouse, Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream, Mrs. Fields Cookies and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. A graduate of UCLA, Betsy began her career as a journalist with Southern California newspapers and worked for Disney Studios and NBC, before launching her original public relations agency in Los Angeles. She lives in Little Tokyo, downtown Los Angeles, with her husband, Cris Credaire. Both are private pilots.
